unexpected situations & mailing address

the other night, just as i was drifting off, i woke up to the sound of someone moving furniture around in the room above me. 'okay', i thought, 'this can't last too long, it's a little wierd but someone is obviously re-arranging their little room'. for some strange reason, however, the rumblings went on and on.

the next day, around breakfast, i discovered i wasn't the only one kept up by the noise. richard, the volunteer who happened to score the flat up on the roof, set us straight: it was the monkey. apparently there's a monkey that hangs out on his balcony, doing nothing more than scratching itself, and that night it decided it was going to move the terrace furniture around, and around, and around.

apparently, the cycle of volunteers that were at the PGH before us were regularly terrorized by said monkey, because it would drop potted plants from the terrance (four storeys above) down into the courtyard where people ate breakfast.

if anyone feels like dropping me a postcard, you can send it to VSO Nepal and it will end up in my cubbyhole at the office (as long as it says my name on it in big letters):
